In order to investigate the role of two biologically active molecules, myo-inositol and methanol, in the differentiation process, their effect on nephrogenesis in vivo and in vitro was studied. The addition of methanol to the culture medium of rat fetal nephrogenic zone (NFZ) maintained in organ culture gives rise to a delay in nephron segmentation, a delay in the onset of the glomerular capillary loop, an increase of the mesenchyma present in the capillary loop and an increase in the volume of the nephron rudiment. This was accompanied by an inhibition of the mitotic index in the NFZ. On the other hand, myo-inositol does not alter the rate of differentiation in the NFZ, but it induces a precocious appearance of glomeruli and capillary loops. Myo-inositol and methanol act synergistically on the development of the glomerular capillary loop. These results suggest that myo-inositol and methanol are necessary for the differentiation process of the glomerular tuft in the rat fetal kidney.Nintendo announced today that the Super Mario Odyssey demo that was shown at their E3 conference yesterday will be coming to the Switch eShop on Friday, August 3.
